In line with its mandate, the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP-UNESCO) is committed to advancing capacity development training through the creation of innovative methodologies and tools. A cornerstone of this initiative is the development of the “IIEP Teaching and Learning Guide,” which outlines IIEP's pedagogical approach to enhance the impact of capacity-building training.
This presentation will explore IIEP's pedagogical approach to designing training that effectively responds to the specific needs and contexts of beneficiaries. This approach prioritizes the creation of meaningful learning experiences by focusing on understanding development needs and objectives, defining clear outcomes, and integrating pedagogical frameworks, along with relevant technologies, to strengthen capacity-building efforts.
During this session, participants will learn how to leverage the guide to enhance their training programs, ensuring they are well-informed and relevant. The presentation will include practical examples, tools, and actionable ideas that participants can apply to their own training initiatives to deliver training solutions that contribute to addressing global development challenges.

Ella Hamonic
Project Officer - Learning Design , IIEP UNESCO
Ella Hamonic joined the International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP-UNESCO), in 2023 as a Learning Designer. Graduated from Sciences Po Lille, she supports teaching teams in the creation of both online and face-to-face training, as well as in the training of trainers. She facilitates collaboration between learners, instructors, and technical teams to develop innovative teaching tools. From 2013 to 2023, she worked as an international expert in online pedagogies with UCLouvain (Belgium), Télécom Paris-Institut Polytechnique de Paris (France), Dartmouth College (USA), the University Carlos III of Madrid (Spain) and Coursera (USA). She has presented her research on online education at international conferences, including MIT, Columbia University, and UC San Diego. In 2016, she was nominated for the edX Prize for Exceptional Contributions to Online Teaching and Learning, and in 2019, her team won the edX Prize for a series of course that focused particularly on the inclusion of women in computer programming.
Jimena Pereyra
Training Specialist, UNESCO International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP)
Jimena Pereyra is the Learning Design and Innovation Cluster Coordinator within the IIEP-UNESCO Global Campus Team in Paris. She oversees the design and delivery of online and hybrid training aimed at strengthening the educational planning capacities of UNESCO Member States and leads innovation projects to improve IIEP’s training practices. Jimena also contributes to technical assistance projects and has supported several national and regional institutions worldwide in enhancing their training capacities in educational planning and management.
