Germán Ruipérez (www.Ruiperez.org) is full professor of German Philology at Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED; Madrid, Spain) and of eLearning at Universidad Camilo José Cela (Madrid, Spain).

He has PhD's from Philipps-Universität Marburg (Germany) and from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (Spain), and he is Director of the Teaching and Linguistic Engineering Laboratory and of the German Philology Department at the Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED) in Madrid (Spain).

In 1999/2000, he was the first Director of Advanced Technologies (CIO -Chief Information Officer) at UNED (one of the largest universities in Europe with around 260,000 students), and was responsible for the overall planning and introduction of eLearning at the university.

Furthermore, he has taught courses (usually at postgraduate level and as Visiting Professor) on subjects relating to Computer Assisted Language Learning and eLearning) in 20 universities and institutions: Universidad Complutense de Madrid, ICADE (Universidad Pontificia de Comillas), Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo, Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar, Universidad de Alcalá de Henares, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Universidad de Sevilla, Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, Universidad de Alicante, Universidad de Extremadura, Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, Escuela Judicial del Consejo General del Poder Judicial, Instituto Cervantes and in the Fundación José Ortega y Gasset.

He is also author of, or collaborator on, more than 100 books, monographs, CD-ROMs, DVDs and articles published mainly on German Linguistics, Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI), Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL), Computer Assisted Translation (CAL), Spanish as a Foreign Language and eLearning.

These are largely the result of more than 20 R&D projects with external finance (European Union Commission, Fulbright Commission, Goethe Institut, Department of Industry and Energy, etc.).
