Jen Persson is the Director of defenddigitalme, a civil liberties group founded in 2015 to campaign for safe, fair, and transparent children’s data in education. She is an independent member of the Department for Education National Pupil Database Steering Group in England. She is currently most involved in policy advocacy with government, educational institutions, industry, and child rights organisations, as we prepare for GDPR and the future growth of edTech. She worked previously in Open Knowledge and Digital Services in academia and higher education, after spending 10 years in the commercial sector in global business process transformation projects responsible for identifying people and systems' business needs, for interface design, data mapping, data cleansing, assigning security, as well as change management, communications, and employee training. Jen is an Against Borders for Children supporter and a multi-lingual, passionate Remainer.
