Owning Learning in Africa: A Case Study of FunDza’s Online Reading Portal
Mignon Hardie is the executive director of the FunDza Literacy Trust, a nonprofit organisation dedicated to growing a culture of reading and writing among South Africa’s youth. She has been involved in the organisation since inception and has been instrumental in ensuring FunDza’s growth and success in getting young people reading for pleasure. The organisation is hailed for its innovative use of mobile technology to disseminate locally-generated, exciting content and for developing a new generation of writers. The organisation has received various accolades for its work, including being a finalist for the WISE Awards 2014 and for The Tech Awards in both 2014 and 2015. In addition to her work with FunDza, Mignon is a director of Cover2Cover Books, an innovative for-profit publishing house. Previously she has been involved in the start-up and management of a number of small and medium enterprises. Mignon has a BA (English and Economics) from UCT and an MBA from Stellenbosch University.

Digital Learning in Haiti
Since several years Ann-Katrin Hardenberg sets up educational institutions as customer or vocational training center and supports enterprises in the area of HR and educational management. She has gained experiences with institutions from different sectors and various countries as Australia, Myanmar and Haiti - just to mention some.
Her passion is the teaching of digital media competence as well as the implementation of educational concepts including the newest digital media and teaching methods. With her work she would like to experience and to cause changes – in people, organizations and societies. With her broad international experience, Ann-Katrin Hardenberg established together with other educational experts a consultancy network which is called THE MAK'ED TEAM - WE MAKE EDUCATION. This international network works in worldwide projects to change education, to develop people and organisations and to teach how to use technology in education.

David works for Jigsaw Consult, a social enterprise based in London that works with a wide range of international development organisations. He has participated in eLearning Africa since 2007. David works with a variety of donors, governments, private sector and civil society organisations on issues of education, technology, partnership and impact assessment. He holds a PhD in evaluating the impact of ICT on education in Africa and also lectures on the MSc course in ICT4D at Royal Holloway, University of London. He is Chair of Trustees for Refugee Support Network, a London-based charity providing educational support to young people affected by displacement and crisis.
