Christoph Schmidt-Mårtensson founded with Ricardo Bayer in 2000 the company CREATE.21st century. 2002 he developed the first virtual learning world and at the beginning of 2006 he brought corporate podcasting to Austria. He got for R&D-projects awards like: VCÖ-Mobilitätspreis 2013, DAPHNE Preis 2011, nomination for the Staatspreis Mobilität 2011 & 2015, New Yorker INTERACTIVE MEDIA AWARD 2013 & 2015. Furthermore he won since 2007 many times the German eLearning Award. Also the Comenius-Siegel 2014, 2015 & 2016. His product cBook is part of the list of the Innovationspreis-IT 2015. 2016 he won the German Brand Award for a corporate learning project with the ERSTE Bank Austria.

Carlos Turro

Live Annotation in a Lecture Recording Environment
Carlos Turro is M.D. and PhD from the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia. He is working there since 1992 and since 2000 is Head of its Media Services unit. From that place he has developed the Polimedia service as a system to create Video Learning Objects. Currently, the Polimedia system is used by more than fifteen universities and has produced more than 18000 learning objects. The Polimedia system was granted with the Spanish national award FICOD 2009 for digital services.
He has and is working in different EU- funded projects. He has worked at the Translectures project, for automatic and interactive transcription and translation of video lectures and the Rec:All project researching how video cab be used in learning environments.
Currently is involved in the edX project for MOOC production, in the Opencast community of Lecture Recordings where UPV developes of a media player for lectures called Paella Player and in the EMMA project for automated transcription and translation of MOOCs.

Corrin Varady

Learning, Design and Cognition: Designing Digital Education Resources for Africa and the Middle East
Dr Corrin Varady is an academic and educational entrepreneur. He has two Masters degrees (Bocconi School of Economics/UNSW and LSE) with First Class Honours and a PhD at the London School of Economics in 2015 and has been an Australia Day Ambassador. Dr Varady currently works for African Digital Content Holdings and is Managing Director of Institute of Digital Education Africa South Africa both being digital education companies established to create and deliver self-paced, personalised, interactive content for students and teachers in Africa and the Middle East. Dr Varady also featured in the international documentary, “The Road to Freedom Peak”, which was received with critical acclaim, first premiering on Fox and is currently available on Netflix. Over a decade ago, Dr Varady established the World Youth Education Trust to educate former child soldiers and students in East Africa. Dr Varady established one a counselling centre for former child soldiers, a boarding house for over 200 students, the WYET Football league for female former child soldiers and hundreds of education sponsorships. The WYET Mwalimu Anna Primary School in Tanzania has been ranked 1st in the region in since 2013 and WYET runs the WYET Maasai school in Kigongoni, Northern Tanzania.

Using Simulation Games and Learning Analytics at Utrecht University
Johan Jeuring is a professor of Software Technology for Learning and Teaching at the department of Information and Computing Sciences of Utrecht University in the Netherlands. Furthermore, he has a small appointment as professor of Software Technology at the Open University of the Netherlands. He designs and develops advanced programming technologies, methods, and languages to support the development of software supporting learning and teaching. He has contributed to projects on giving feedback in learning environments for mathematics, an intelligent tutoring systems for learning functional programming, and a serious game for practicing communication skills. The technologies he has developed are used yearly by thousands of students. Jeuring received his PhD in software technology on 1993, and has since then worked at Chalmers Technical University in Gothenburg, Sweden, at a software company, and as lecturer, director of education, teaching fellow and professor at Utrecht University.

Serious Games for Fostering Multilingualism in Early Childhood Education
Hariklia Tsalapatas is a software engineer at the University of Thessaly, Greece since 2000. She has a Diploma in Computer Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece (1990), an MSc Degree in Computer Science from Rice University, Houston, TX (1994), and an MBA from London Business School (2005). She has been working on ICT in education since 2000 focusing on combining technology with emerging learning methodologies including active, experiential, explorative, and collaborative learning. Over the past 6 years she has been active on serious games in education, mobile learning, and community-based learning. She has participated in 20 EU funded projects since 2000 several of which she has coordinated. She has published approximately 40 publications in the same timeframe. Earlier engagements inlcude working as a researcher at the Foundation for Research and Technology in Heraklion Crete (1998-2000) and as a network engineer for Oracle corporation, SF, California (1993-1997).

Shareville: Enhancing Student Learning Experience Through Online Realistic Scenarios and Simulations
After a degree in Economics and Management (BSc Hons), awarded from Bocconi University (Milan, Italy) in 2003, Dario Faniglione worked in the Italian film industry for three years as an Assistant Producer. He then obtained a scholarship to attend a master course at Birmingham City University (BCU), where he was awarded with the MA Media Production in 2007. He was employed by BCU as Multimedia Content Creator, producing educational resources for the Learning Technology team. While working at BCU, he completed the MEd Academic Practice, and he is currently a PhD candidate in Education.
His current role as Senior Lecturer in Learning Technology, within the Centre for Excellence of Learning and Teaching at BCU, involves responsibilities for the PGCert Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and tutoring in various modules of the MEd Academic Practice. He is also still involved in the creation, development and implementation of learning technology resources and tools to assist with classroom based and distance teaching. He is currently researching new pedagogical approaches related to technology enhanced learning and teaching in Higher Education.

Kari A. Hintikka works as a researcher and usability designer in the Otava Folk High School, specialized in future trends of the Internet. He is making his PhD in University of Jyväskylä in Unit of Sociology. He graduated from the Media laboratory of Aalto University in Helsinki in 1998 with concept and usability design as major.
Hintikka's work - like faction books and reports - and studies relate to collective intelligence, co-creation, education and learning, internet collaboration, social networks and ecosystems, open data and open science and the future of the Internet. He has participated as an expert member to several boards and committees including ministries and Sitra concerning issues information society and the future of Finland.

Dr. Ebba Ossiannilsson, is the V President for the Swedish Association for Distance Education (SADE), and the V President for the Swedish Association for E-Competence (REK). She is the founder and owner of Ossiannilsson Quality in Open Online Learning (QOOL) Consultancy. Ossiannilsson is a senioer consultant at Mentorix, Denmark.
Dr. Ossiannilsson was awarded the EDEN Fellow title in 2014, and she became Open Education Europa Fellow in 2015. Since the year 2000, she worked at Lund University, Sweden, as an e-learning, open online learning expert, and advisor with special focus on quality. Ossiannilsson is a researcher, advisor and consultant. In addition, she has worked as a consultant at several of the prestige national universities. She is frequently invited as keynote speaker for international, and national conferences, within the area of open, online, flexible, and technology enhanced teaching and learning (OOFAT) and quality. She is board member in national and international associations, in the area of open online learning and education (EDEN EC, former EFQUEL, earlier in EUCEN). She was the research leader for the ICDE research study on global overview of quality models, and the evaluator of the SEQUENT project on quality. Ossiannilsson collaborated with the EC ET working group on digital and online learning on quality in OER, MOOCs and open education and with Commonwealth of Learning. She was an expert for IPTS on their work on the framework for open education. Ossiannilsson is a quality reviewer for both ICDE as well as for EADTU, ECB Check, and also for former EFQUEL. She Was in the board for LANETO, and was among the founders of EPPROBATE. Ossiannilsson is coordinating the ICDE_ON_BOLDIC on behalf of the Swedish Association for Distance Education (SADE). She is in the Board for several scientific Journals and the Editor in the Education Sciences Journal, the topical collection on MOOCs. Ossiannilsson is representing EDEN in ISO, and she works at national level in SIS/ISO (Swedish Standards Institute /ISO. She has a passion to contribute to open education for a Future We Want for All, as is emphasized by UNESCO for 2030.
Ossiannilsson has conducted several research studies in open online learning, including flexible learning, OERs and MOOCs, and personal learning environments. She has conducted several national overview reports, for example, the POERUP, ADOERUP, Global OER Mapping, the IPTS Member States Case Studies on Policies for Opening up Education, and for the Open Education Working Group. She was one of the promoters for introducing MOOCs in Sweden, and she has finalized some 40+ MOOCs herself, since its start in 2008. She was invited as Quality expert for the investigation on MOOCs by the Swedish Higher Education Authority (UKÄ).
Ossiannilsson is a senior consultant at Mentorix, Denmark, and serve as a pedagogical consultant and researcher for the Next Generation Digital Learning Envioronment (NGDLE). She has conducted research in the area with an extensive publications on personal learning, and learning "just for me".
Ossiannilsson earned her PhD at Oulu University, Finland in 2012 with a dissertation on Benchmarking e-learning in higher education: lessons learned from international projects. Her dissertation has fortunately had a very large outreach and is often cited. Ossiannilsson’s publications comprise over 200 publications: Conference papers, Journal articles, Book Chapters, Reports, Editor for books, a forthcoming book (Springer on open education) and her dissertation. My passion in life is promoting formal and informal education and learning and I am working for more than 25 years in the fields of European Education, Training & Active Social Inclusion.
Initially, co-ordinating international academic cooperation and large Higher Education/ Research partnerships/projects for the Coimbra Group asbl, a Network of European Universities (co-founder) for ten years and for the MENON Network EEIG for five years, I spent some time later at the European Commission’s Education Agency as eLearning Project Officer, dealing with selections, monitoring and valorisation of European eLearning projects.
Today, collaborating with Higher Education institutions and research centres in European projects, I am also involved in external evaluation for the European Commission since 2010 and on demand for European projects.
Being part of the Steering Committee of OEB and Programme Team of two annual global conferences : eLearning Africa & OEB (Online Educa Berlin) engages my expertise and networking competence.
