e-Learning Educators Networking Session

In this session, educators from different fields will share their best practices and experiences in online teaching. Small groups and larger discussion sessions will provide many opportunities for networking and enrichment.
Alexandra Mihai
Researcher, Vrije Universiteit Brussel - Institute for European Studies, Belgium
At the crossroads of political science and educational research, Alexandra is currently working in the Educational Development Unit of the Institute for European Studies at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). She is designing and delivering a variety of educational programmes targeted both at students and professionals, using the blended learning approach to combine face-to-face lectures, online courses and webinars. A political scientist interested in educational technology, Alexandra is writing her PhD on the relation between technology and pedagogy in teaching political science. She has also been championing the use of technology in the classroom among her colleagues and in similar social science departments in Belgium and the United Kingdom.

I was born in 1958 in Karlsruhe, Germany, studied psychology in Gießen and Frankfurt/Main, got my Ph.D. in 1987 and my Habilitation in 1997 (subject: Lying in everyday life). Afterwards I held several substitute professorships in Social Psychology in German universities.
Currently I am a Senior eLearning Administrator in the Computing Center of the Goethe University Frankfurt am Main and Lecturer (blended learning courses on soft skills for law students). Additionally I work as coach (didactic methods for lawyers and for judges) for the Chamber of Lawyers, Frankfurt am Main, for the Hessian Ministry of the Interior and for the Hessian Ministry of Law.
My main areas of interest: communication, conflict, teaching, research and evaluation methods.

Tiffani Reardon

Ms. Tiffani Reardon is an Instructional Designer at Kennesaw State University in the United States. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English from KSU and is currently completing her Master of Science in Instructional Design and Technology at Georgia State University. Research interests include instructional design, technical writing (in English and French), and web design. She lives in Kennesaw, Georgia with her partner, Josh, and her dog, Nutmeg.

Dr. Vanessa Slinger-Friedman is an Associate Professor of Geography and Associate Director of Distance Education for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Kennesaw State University. Originally from Trinidad, Dr. Slinger-Friedman obtained her M.A. in Latin American Studies and Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Florida. An area of research interest for Dr. Slinger-Friedman is innovative pedagogy and online teaching.

Dr. Tamara Powell is the Director of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Office of Distance Education at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia, USA, outside of Atlanta. Her PhD research focused on African American literature. Her current research focuses on retention strategies for at-risk students in online courses. Her faculty development workshops, including "Build a Web Course Workshop," were recognized with the Online Learning Consortium Award for Excellence in Online Faculty Development in 2010 and 2015. She lives in Kennesaw with her husband, Richard Hutchinson, and her two dogs, Molly and Hans Dieter.
