How can educators use AI to design more inclusive learning experiences without compromising human judgement, professional expertise or meaningful interaction? Rather than starting with technology, this hands-on workshop explores how AI can support pedagogically driven planning through the lenses of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), TPACK and applied classroom practice.
Participants will examine real-world examples of lesson planning, assessment adaptation and inquiry design and teacher professional development, exploring how AI can help identify barriers to learning, strengthen differentiation and create multiple pathways for engagement, representation and expression. Examples will include approaches for supporting multilingual learners, students with executive functioning challenges and diverse learning profiles through intentional scaffolding, multimodal access and flexible instructional design.
Through collaborative reflection and barrier-analysis activities, participants will apply an AI-supported planning process to a learning experience and explore how it can be adapted to their own context. The workshop will also consider where AI can enhance teaching practice and how to integrate AI in ways that enhance human-centred learning rather than prioritising efficiency, automation, or technology for its own sake. Participants will leave with practical frameworks and adaptable strategies for more inclusive, accessible and thoughtful AI integration.
