Teaching & Learning Centres Exchange
Date Friday, Nov 29 Time –
Are you involved in the creation and development of Teaching & Learning Centres in your institution? Or in learning networks that support these centres as change agents as part of our educational infrastructures? As learning goes beyond borders, we are looking for European colleagues who would like to exchange views on the development of TLCs or CTLs, or whatever abbreviation you prefer.
One of the things we can discuss, for example, are findings from an EUA Peer Group; “Development and strategic benefits of learning and teaching centres”:
• There is great diversity in the structures, missions and staffing of centres, with some fully integrated into university strategy and others operating as decentralised units; there is also variation in maturity, from long-established centres to newly established ones.
• The report emphasises the importance of continuous development, highlighting key elements such as positioning, action, impact, self-reflection and culture, which enable centres to position themselves strategically and support continuous improvement in learning and teaching.
• Collaboration is crucial, as centres often work with faculty, students and leadership to align with institutional goals, involving partnerships and networks to ensure success and sustainability.
• Aligning institutional teaching with broader societal goals, such as integrating digital environments and promoting models aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), makes them important drivers of institutional and societal change in education.
Join Npuls (the Dutch national growth fund programme) and Hochschulforum Digitalisierung (Germany’s national forum for the digital transformation of HE) for an international exchange on how we can best facilitate TLCs. We are looking forward to meeting with you then.
