Join The Learning Battle, an Open Mic Arena!

This plenary is designed to challenge you on multiple levels. Are you ready to speak in front of a group? Will you listen attentively to different arguments? Can you critically analyze learning approaches for their strengths? Of course, you can! And with each contribution lasting just 3 minutes, it’s micro-learning at its finest. 

Join the Learning Battle and share your recent projects with a community of passionate learning experts! Or, if you prefer, listen to what others have been working on, understand their methodologies, and ask meaningful questions to fully grasp their ideas. The Learning Battle ensures that everyone leaves with valuable insights. By listening to all the participants, you’ll get a sense of who they are, what’s happening in the learning world, and who you might want to connect with during the conference. 

What’s the format? It’s simple and engaging, consisting of four steps: 

Open Stage: There’s an open stage with a microphone, and Inge de Waard as the master of ceremony. Inge will invite people from the audience to take the stage (by a show of hands). 

Three-Minute Pitches: Each person who takes the stage has 3 minutes to highlight their new learning or teaching idea. 

Q&A: After each 3-minute pitch, the audience can ask a question to test the presenter in a friendly manner. 

Audience Voting: After the pitch and Q&A, the audience votes by means of applause. The louder the applause, the higher the decibels (points) the presenter receives. The person with the highest applause at the end wins the Learning Battle Cup. 

OEB is all about networking and sharing knowledge. To truly embrace this, you need to dare to speak up. This informal spotlight gives you the chance to do just that. From a brief 3-minute pitch, the audience can gauge who you are, what you’re working on, and whether they want to connect with you during the conference.

This event is intended to playfully bring everyone up to speed with what’s happening and who is driving change in the learning field.
