Your Guide through the Future Skills Landscape: European Policy Approaches towards Digital Skills

This panel, hosted by the European Commission’s European Digital Education Hub, focuses on the future of digital skills which education and training professionals and students need to thrive in a rapidly changing sector and job market.
The session will provide you with the broader context needed for the discussions we will be having here at OEB and beyond, in our daily professional lives.
Speakers in this session will include:
- Anusca Ferrari from DG EAC at the European Commission who will introduce the Digital Education Action Plan. She will emphasize the crucial role of skills in successfully implementing the plan
- Rasmus Benke-Aberg from Stifterverband who will center his discussion on "Skills for Educators" and "Skills for Knowledge Workers". He will also shed light on the initiatives and efforts of the Digital Education Hub in these domains and zoom in on the best practices identified by the 3500+ person strong Digital Education Hub community.
- Jessica Niewint Gori from Indire will delve into the skills required for AI within educational institutions, contextualizing his/her discussion within the broader conversations occurring at the Digital Education Hub.
- Peter Fagerström from Educraftor
will speak about digital skills and innovation, the difficulties of innovative digital companies to recruit digitally competent employees, as well as how the European Commission’s policy initiatives are relevant (or not) for the private sector.

He implements, together with his team innovation and learning processes, in local and regional organisations as well as in networks, helping them become learning organisations and purpose driven innovation and learning ecosystems.
Peter is a serial venturepreneur (4 companies, 3 NGOs), he has also started a startup program at a university for both students and staff, co-chaired the executive board for a spearhead project for the Ministry of Education in Finland focusing on integrated entrepreneurship education, and is the initiator of three (3) startup hubs.
He has a phenomenal ability to perceive large, complex systems, and finds connections where none are apparent, enabling situations where the sum of two parts are greater than simple addition. He can work on a vision no matter how big and is not afraid to challenge conventional mindsets and the way we work, he brings positive disruption into any process.
Peter's vision is to enable all human beings to fulfil their dreams.
He does this by piecing together learning ecosystems through a plethora of projects with the end goal that together they will make possible an active learning society.
Such a society would be based on dialogue and learning and would support growth, innovation and maturity of all humanity. Learning, earning and thriving together we could easily solve the challenges we face as a human race.

Rasmus Benke-Aberg
Team Lead – Digital Education Hub Community, Stifterverband, Germany
Rasmus is Team Lead of the European Digital Education Hub (EDEH) for the German NGO Stifterverband. In this role he works together with the European Commission to implement EDEH and to build up a community of practitioners of digital education in Europe.
Rasmus has previously been the Director of the Erasmus Student Network (ESN), Secretary General of OBESSU and Vice-President of the Lifelong Learning Platform. He has a Master’s Degree in European and International Relations from Linköping University.

Head of the Research Structure "Technological Applications for Laboratory Teaching", Indire, Italy
Jessica Niewint-Gori is Head of the Research Structure "Technological Applications for Laboratory Teaching" at Indire, a Research Institute of the Italian Ministry of Education.
Her experience extends to participation in national and European projects and work groups and projects related to STEM and Artificial Intelligence, such as the European Commission's European Digital Educational Hub, the workgroup about STEM education ran by the European ministries of education at European Schoolnet.

Anthony Camilleri
Senior Partner, Knowledge Innovation Centre, Slovenia
Anthony F. Camilleri is a senior partner and founder of the Knowledge Innovation Centre, specialised on digital technologies in education and credentialing. He has worked on unbundling and micro-credentialling for nearly ten years, working with universities and policy-makers on how to produce, certify and recognise small units of learning - with a focus on ensuring portability between institutions and employers. He has been consulting with the European Commission around the creation and implementation of European Digital Credentials for Learning, the European Learning Model model, and the Diplomas Use Case of the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure. He has worked on blockchain credentialling projects in Europe, Indonesia and the United States.
Throughout his career, Mr. Camilleri has focused on using these tools to enhance access to education and employment, enabling lifelong learners to get a greater choice in study opportunities, and more flexible pathways in combining these opportunities to match their life and career goals. Anthony is a coffee-addict, sci-fi buff and believer in the power of education to realise human potential.
