The Cognitive Science and Research behind the Use of Video in Learning
Donald is an entrepreneur, CEO, Professor, speaker and blogger. He was CEO and one of the original founders of Epic Group plc, which established itself as the leading company in the UK e-learning market, floated on the Stock Market in 1996 and sold in 2005. Describing himself as ‘free from the tyranny of employment’, he now the CEO of an AI learning company WildFire, investor and Board member of PlanB learning, LearningPool and Cogbooks. He has been involved in consulting and implementing online learning in schools, FE, HE, corporate and government.
Donald has been involved in film, games, web, mobile, MOOCs, Oculus Rift and won many awards for the design and implementation of online learning. He is a regular speaker at national and international conferences, having delivered talks in the US, Europe, Far East, Middle East and Africa, and won several ‘Best speaker’ awards … also a regular (and controversial) blogger on online learning!

Video for Astronaut Training
Matt Day is an Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) with over twenty years experience in the field of training design and development. Matt is originally from the UK but since 2012 he has lived and worked in Germany. He works for Telespazio VEGA Deutschland GmbH and is based in Cologne at the European Astronaut Centre (EAC),part of the European Space Agency.
Matt's role at the EAC within the Space Training Team is to provide consultancy and support for the development of astronaut and ground crew training (classroom and online), in preparation for manned missions to the International Space Station (ISS).
In recent years, Matt has been instrumental in setting up an in-house capability and process to produce video training for astronauts, to be viewed on board the ISS.
Before moving to Germany Matt worked for several companies across a range of industries, spending eight years at Leonardo Helicopters as the senior ISD supporting pilot and technician training.

Anja Wipper has been working as a trainer and consultant for e- and blended learning at Technische Universität Berlin since 2005. She studied work and instructional psychology and did further studies in university didactics, online learning and video production. As a member of the e-learning team, Anja gives courses and supports lecturers in the use of digital media to facilitate learning and motivate their students. Her specialities are: developing blended learning concepts, designing courses with learning management systems, creating learning videos and using online tools to enhance teaching and learning.
