Digitisation in the world of work and "future" qualifications: all trades and industries require increasingly higher-level competences as a consequence of technological developments and international competition. Our conversation will revolve around life-long learning for adults and vocational training initiatives as proven successful instruments for promoting innovation in different labour markets.

Advisory services within the Bundesinstitut für Berufsbildung´s international co-operation activities. Appraising, quality management and certifying of (web based) distance learning courses for continuous training.

Improving Learning, Motivation and Self-regulation in Vocational Education with Goal-based Learning in an Alternate Reality Setting.
Stefan Ludwigs is teaching media theory, media psychology and digital business management at Rheinische Fachhochschule Köln (RFH), University of applied Sciences.
During the last 10 years he has been doing research in the field of e-learning, especially about motivational and cognitive effects of computer based learning in upper level school and vocational education. His research project GLARS focusses on goal based learning in an alternate reality setting, integrating school, home and enterprise for a pervasive learning experience.
As e-learning representative of the RFH, he himself is experienced with different formats from asynchronous forum learning to online lecturing & tele tutoring.

My expertise is in the field of learning innovation in the industry and in Higher Engineering Education with the focus on technology enhanced learning and capacity building. The emphasis is on using new insights, theoretical findings and technologies for learning with a design-based research approach to involve and allow stakeholders to (in-) directly improve their teaching and learning skills and amplify their capacity for innovative educational practices.
I have an interdisciplinary background in Human Geography, Mass Communication, Learning Sciences and in particular Online Learning and Learning Technologies (PhD). I worked in various occupations as teacher, developer, coordinator, researcher and manager. My experiences range from secondary education to higher education and a variety of public and private organizations, industries and national and international projects. These comprise the service industry, transport, do-it-yourself, energy, the EU, higher engineering education and others.
I am associated with the Delft University of Technology and the 4TU Centre of Engineering Education, an association of the 4 technical universities in the Netherlands and operate as an independent adviser.
