Aleksandra Zemke

Aleksandra Zemke graduated from the University of Warsaw with a degree in Sociology and from the University of Amsterdam with a degree in Conflict Resolution and Governance. She worked in media and public relations until in 2011 she founded Smilemundo, a non-profit based in Barcelona that aims to foster a sustainable developmental process by means of innovative ideas using the Internet. Since then, Zemke has devoted her work to developing innovative tools for education and awareness building. From 2013 on, she has been creating SmileUrbo, an award winning educational game, for which she was awarded the World Summit Youth Award (Brasil, 2015), which honors excellence for the use of the Internet for social empowerment. SmileUrbo is an interactive simulation game designed to teach teamwork and consensus building within the community. Privately, Zemke is a fan of design, new technology, and social entrepreneurship, all of which are tools that Smilemundo uses in its many creative projects.
