SELECTION CRITERIA AND GUIDELINES
The themes and subthemes of OEB 2015 are offered as a guideline and not as a restriction.
The content selection process is overseen by the Conference Review Committee and guided by feedback collected from participants, the Conference Advisory Committee and associated organisations.
We always receive many more proposals than we were able to include. As a general rule, approximately one third are accepted. Selection is made on the basis of:
- the extent to which the proposal can be judged to be innovative and offer practical value to conference participants
- how relevant the proposal is to the theme of the conference,
- the experience and knowledge of those making the proposal,
- whether or not the proposal has been included in the agenda of previous years' conferences, and
- the practicalities of including the proposal within the conference formats.
If your application has been successful, we will contact you with the further details of your participation by the end of August, 2015.
Here is a preview of what to expect as a speaker at OEB:
- Speakers need to be registered for the conference and are entitled to a reduced participation fee. We will provide registration instructions together with speaker’s acceptance email.
- OEB speakers are responsible for their own travel and accommodation. When making the arrangements, please have in mind that the main conference takes place on two days (Thursday and Friday, December 3-4), and your proposal can be placed in a session on any of these days. Please do not restrict your attendance to one part of the conference only.
- Speakers will be asked to provide their biography, photo and, optionally, additional materials, depending on the format of their session. The provided materials will be featured on the OEB website and in the conference Book of Abstracts, published with an ISBN.
- Once the conference programme has been announced, speakers will be able to find their speaking slot in the OEB online agenda. Please note that the conference programme is subject to change.
- Before the conference, speakers will be introduced to the chairperson of their session via email. They will be also provided with a space onsite to discuss the session details in person.
- Distribution of promotional materials during the session is prohibited. This is a benefit reserved for those who have signed an agreement with the conference organiser for exhibition, sponsorship or support.
