Ian Goldin is Professor of Globalisation and Development and Director of the Oxford Martin School at the University of Oxford.

Ian Goldin was Vice President of the World Bank (2003-2006) and prior to that the Bank's Director of Development Policy (2001-2003). From 1996 to 2001 he was Chief Executive and Managing Director of the Development Bank of Southern Africa and served as an advisor to President Nelson Mandela. Previously, Goldin was Principal Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in London, and Program Director at the OECD Development Centre in Paris, where he directed the Programs on Trade, Environment and Sustainable Development.

He has a BA (Hons) and a BSc from the University of Cape Town, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and an MA and Doctorate from the University of Oxford.

Goldin has received wide recognition for his contributions to development and research, including having been knighted by the French Government and nominated Global Leader of Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum. He has published over 50 articles and 19 books, his two most recent books are The Butterfly Defect: How globalization creates systemic risks, and what to do about it (Princeton University Press, 2014) and an edited volume Is the planet full?  (Oxford University Press, 2014).

David Price, OBE, is a learning futurist and co-founder of We Do Things Differently, a culture change company.  He is a Senior Associate at the Innovation Unit, in London. His recent book, 'OPEN: How We'll Work, Live and Learn In The Future' has been an Amazon best-seller since its publication.

For the past 10 years, David has led numerous international education projects, helping schools gear themselves up to meet the challenges of the 21st century. In 2009 he was awarded the O.B.E. By Her Majesty the Queen.

He writes, talks and advises on some of the biggest challenges facing business, education and society: solving the problems of employee, student and civic disengagement; maximising our potential to be creative, innovative and fulfilled citizens, and understanding the global shift towards open organisations, and systems of learning.

Cory Doctorow (craphound.com) is a science fiction novelist, blogger and technology activist. He is the co-editor of the popular weblog Boing Boing (boingboing.net), and a contributor to The Guardian, Publishers Weekly, Wired, and many other newspapers, magazines and websites. He is a special consultant to the Electronic Frontier Foundation (eff.org), a non-profit civil liberties group that defends freedom in technology law, policy, standards and treaties. He holds an honorary doctorate in computer science from the Open University (UK), where he is a Visiting Professor; in 2007, he served as the Fulbright Chair at the Annenberg Center for Public Diplomacy at the University of Southern California.

His two latest books are IN REAL LIFE, a young adult graphic novel created with Jen Wang (2014); and INFORMATION DOESN’T WANT TO BE FREE, a business book about creativity in the Internet age (2014).

Nik Gowing was a main news presenter for the BBC’s international 24-hour news channel BBC World News 1996-2014. He presented The Hub with Nik Gowing, BBC World Debates, Dateline London, plus location coverage of major global stories.

For 18 years he worked at ITN where he was bureau chief in Rome and Warsaw, and Diplomatic Editor for Channel Four News (1988-1996). He has been a member of the councils of Chatham House (1998–2004), the Royal United Services Institute (2005–present), and the Overseas Development Institute (2007-2014), the board of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy including vice chair (1996-2005), and the advisory council at Wilton Park (1998-2012 ). Nik has extensive reporting experience over three decades in diplomacy, defence and international security. Allan Päll is the Secretary General of the European Youth Forum and an advocate for youth rights. The Youth Forum is the representative body for youth organisations in Europe. He studied politics in University of Tartu and led student unions in Estonia and at European level (European Students’ Union), advocating for student voices to be included in educational policy. His keen interest has been to promote a student-centred education with a strong focus on social inclusion and to promote youth participation in society and politics.

Miles is principal lecturer in Computing Education at the University of Roehampton. Prior to joining Roehampton, he spent 18 years in four schools, much of the time as an ICT coordinator and most recently as a head teacher. His research interests include the pedagogies of computer science education and informal learning. He is a former chair of Naace, the UK ICT subject association, and continues to serve on its board of management and is a member the management board of Computing At School and the UK Forum for Computing Education. He is a fellow of the BCS, RSA and HEA.

Over the years he has contributed to a number of computing related projects including: CAS's computer science curriculum, the national curriculum computing programmes of study, the CAS / Naace guide to the computing curriculum for primary teachers, training of CAS Master Teachers, the BETT and ERA Award winning Rising Stars Switched on Computing, Barefoot Computing, Code Club Pro's training materials, QuickStart Computing and resources for the BBC and Microsoft.

An MP at 25, and a Business Minister in the Coalition Government of 2010-2015 aged 32, Jo Swinson wasted no time in shaking up the political establishment. Her passion for improving the world of work saw her battle to extend flexible working, and introduce landmark legislation to allow couples to choose how to share parental leave. Jo recognises the complexity of the productivity challenge in the UK, and she continues to work with business leaders to promote employee engagement, employee ownership, and workplace wellbeing.

For almost a decade, Jo has been a thought-leader in the field of wellbeing and public policy. She was a leading voice in the successful campaign to measure the country’s wellbeing alongside the GDP figures. A digital pioneer, Jo was one of the first MPs to use Twitter and served as Vice Chair of the Prime Minister’s Digital Taskforce.  Now a Director of award-winning data intelligence company Clear Returns, Jo speaks with authority (and without jargon) about the challenges and opportunities of the digital age.

An inspiring role model for young women, Jo secured Government support for gender pay transparency in large companies.  She highlighted the problem of body image pressure affecting young people, especially girls, and co-founded the Campaign for Body Confidence, working with the fashion, media and advertising industries to drive change. Pedro De Bruyckere is an educational scientist in Ghent  in Belgium since 2001. He co-wrote 2 books with Bert Smits in which they debunk popular myths on GenY and GenZ, their latest entitled “Ik Was 10 in 2015” (“I was 10 in 2015”). Dr Harold Elletson is an international communications and public affairs consultant. He is also the Director of The New Security Foundation, which conducts research into the implications of the new security environment for civil society. The New Security Foundation provides an international forum for dialogue between the public and private sectors and offers analytical insight and information about new security conditions. The Foundation hosts the Security and Defence Learning track at OEB, as well as organising other conferences and seminars. A particular area of expertise is tourism security and the connection between culture and security.

He is a founding director of the Africa Forum on Business, Investment and Security, a member of the steering committee of OEB, a member of the Organising Committee of eLearning Africa and a consultant to ICWE GmbH. He is also the editor of The eLearning Africa Report, which is published every year and contains a survey of ICT in education in Africa, a comprehensive country report outlining progress in ICT4E in every African country and a funding guide.

Dr Elletson was previously Director of the NATO Forum on Business and Security, which he created with support from the NATO Science Programme.

A former Member of the United Kingdom Parliament (from 1992-1997), he served as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland in the early stages of the peace process and was also a member of the Select Committee on Environmental affairs. He served as a member of the Lancashire Education Authority (the Education Committee of Lancashire County Council) before being elected to Parliament where he represented the interests of schools and colleges in his constituency in discussions with Ministers and on the floor of the House of Commons. He is a Fellow of the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme and of the Industry and Parliament Trust.

As a communications and public affairs specialist, he has advised many leading companies on aspects of their business in challenging markets, including BP in Azerbaijan and Alstom in Siberia. He has written widely on political and historical subjects and his first book, The General Against the Kremlin, was published by Little Brown. His journalism has been published in a variety of newspapers and magazines. Dr Elletson holds a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Bradford.

Cornelia Daheim is the founder and director of Future Impacts Consulting, a foresight research and consulting company. Ms Daheim has experience in foresight projects in Europe, the US and Asia, and has spoken on foresight and future trends around the world. In 2003, she founded the German Node of the Millennium Project, which is the world’s largest continuous foresight NGO working towards future global change, and has since served as its head. 

Furthermore, she is a member of the scientific committee of the EU Commissions’ board for the “Futures-Oriented Technology Analysis Conference”, a member of the board of the academic journal “World Futures Review”, member of the jury of the “Janssen Zukunftspreis” and serves on the Association of Professional Futurists’ (APF) Professionalization Expert Task Force. Additionally, she is Vice President at the Foresight Europe Network, which aims to advance foresight in Europe. In the last decades, she has led projects on the future of work for public and private sector clients, e,.g. the study „Future of Jobs and Skills“ for the UK Commission of Employment and Skills - called „the most comprehensive study of its kind“ by Tobey Peyton Jones, head of Siemens HR.

John Higgins was appointed Director General of DIGITALEUROPE, the association for the digital technology industry in Europe, in November 2011 following nine years leading its UK member association, Intellect.

After graduating from the University of East Anglia with an honours degree in Mathematics and then gaining a post graduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance, John began a career in IT. He trained as a systems analyst, held senior positions with Ernst & Young and worked in Chicago with leading software company SSA. In 1995 he was appointed CEO of the Rocket Networks, a California based dot.com that provided the world’s first online recording studios. He returned to the UK in 1998 and became Director General of the Computing Services and Software Association, one of Intellect’s predecessors.

John is a member of the governing body of the University of Warwick and recent chair of its audit committee.   John is President of the European Commission’s Strategic Policy Forum on Digital Entrepreneurship and was recently elected to the Board of the European Internet Foundation.  John’s other recent committee chair roles include the cross industry association council of the CBI, a government/industry space committee and the global policy action committee of the World IT Services Association, WITSA. He was board member of e-skills, the UK’s digital sector skills council and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He was presented with two personal awards for outstanding contributions; first to the association sector in 2004 and then to the IT industry in 2008. The Queen appointed him a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in 2005 for his services to the UK IT industry.

Anka Mulder studied History at the University of Groningen, where she later lectured in International Relations. She worked in Brussels, Vienna and The Hague and became Director of Education at TU Delft in 2004.

In 2008 she was a member, from 2011 to 2013 president of the board of the international OpenCourseWare Consortium. The Consortium is the largest international organisation in the field of free online provision of education in the form of complete courses. From 2011 to 2013 she combined the post of director with that of Secretary General of the university.

Since April 2013, she has been Vice-President at TU Delft responsible for Education and Operations.  Furthermore she is a member of the edX University Advisory Board, a global network of universities including Harvard, MIT and Berkeley, that produce Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and promote innovation in education worldwide. Lia joined the Wellcome Trust in 2014 to lead the innovative £6 million ‘Education and Neuroscience Initiative’ following a long-standing interest in this area.

After studying neuroscience at the University of Nottingham, Lia became a secondary school biology teacher and head of department for six years. During her time teaching she noticed that the lack of connection between the education community and the neuroscience/psychology research had left a gulf which was being filled by ‘brain-based’ teaching practices which were often unsubstantiated. This led her to complete an M.Ed at the University of Cambridge looking at how neuroscience could be used to develop the understanding of learning to improve practice.

The ‘Education and Neuroscience Initiative’ a collaborative scheme with the Education Endowment Foundation, aims to both build the evidence by funding research, but also to help support teachers with the research already available.

Toby Walsh is Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
He is also Research Group Leader at Data61 (formerly NICTA), Australia's centre of excellence for ICT. 
He has been Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research, and of AI Communications. He is the Associate Editor of the Journal of the ACM covering Artificial Intelligence. He has been elected a fellow of the Association for the Advancement of AI for his research and service to the community.

Michael Teutsch is Head of Unit for country analysis in the European Commission's Directorate General for Education and Culture. His activities include the analysis of national education systems and policies in the context of the Europe 2020 strategy for growth and jobs and the European Semester promoting structural reforms in EU Member States. His unit also supports the development and implementation of EU and national policies through peer-learning between countries, making best use of EU cohesion policy and funds in the area of education, and country specific analysis on issues related to school and early childhood education, higher education, migration, and innovation in education.
