The OEB Plenary Debate 2017
Always one of the highlights of OEB, the annual Plenary Debate is an opportunity for you to discuss one of the most important issues of the day with our expert speakers. The parliamentary-style format encourages a lively exchange of views and allows plenty of time for participation.
Our panel including Julia Hobsbawm, Marc Prensky, Joe Edelman and Claire Fox will open a fascinating and important debate about the effects of the internet and social media on learners' capacity to think and learn. With such a controversial subject, this year's edition promises to be as explosive as ever!
The motion for debate this year is: “As the internet and social media are profoundly affecting both thinking and learning in ways that are not always beneficial, education institutions should take steps to encourage learners to reduce their reliance on them”.
