Education Innovation: "No Turning Back" Say Experts
Classroom innovation has “accelerated” during the pandemic and there is now “no turning back,” experts will tell leaders of the world’s education and technology sectors in Berlin in December.
The organisers of Europe’s leading conference on technology-supported learning and training say that this year’s OEB Global conference programme in Berlin on 1 – 3 December shows that the pace of change in classrooms across the world has quickened during the Covid crisis to the point that education has been “changed forever.”
“Schools, colleges, universities have become more innovative and both students and teachers are more resilient,” says Astrid Jaeger, the Director of OEB Global. “The most valuable innovations in classrooms have accelerated and are being optimised ‘for the long run,’ although institutions and workplaces are not losing sight of the importance of social connectivity and face-to-face engagement.
“At this year’s OEB Global in Berlin, speakers from all over the world will share their experience. They are going to be showing how global education and training have been changed forever. They’ll be sharing new ways of learning and training, including setting out a range of new approaches and practices for an increasingly online education world. They’ll explain that we have reached the point at which we have no alternative but to keep going forward. There can be no turning back.”
OEB Global describes itself as “the annual global, cross-sector conference and exhibition on digital learning and training.” The programme for the conference, which is widely recognised as an unrivalled forum for the people and organisations shaping the future of how we teach and learn through technology, is now available online. It shows that, at this year’s event, which will also feature an exhibition of new products and solutions, there will be more than 80 sessions and over 180 speakers, including:
- Rose Luckin, Professor of Learner Centred design at UCL Knowledge Lab
- Sean Michael Morris, Director of the Digital Pedagogy Lab, University of Colorado Denver
- Jürgen Handke, Digital Learning pioneer
- Marleen Stikker, Professor of Practice at HvA
- Sina Fäckeler, Global Head of People Development and Wellbeing, AXA Group Operations
- Perttu Pölönen, futurist, inventor and author
- Fons Trompenaars, Organisational theorist and author
They’ll be joined at the conference by educators, students, L&D managers, and policymakers from international organisations including:
- Technical University of Munich, Aalto University, Holon Institute of Technology, Universitat Politècnica De Catalunya
- The World Bank Group, UNESCO and ITC-ILO
- AkzoNobel, Novartis, TÜV Rheinland and the Global Wind Organisation,
- Columbia University, MIT and Carnegie Mellon University
- SURF, Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft and the Danish Knowledge Centre of E-Learning
- Qatar University Young Scientists Center, Al-Bayan Bilingual School
OEB Global has developed a reputation as one of the most vibrant and exciting events in the global education.
“It will be good to be back,” says Astrid Jaeger. “We have an amazing network at OEB. It’s like a large, extended family and people are looking forward to meeting old friends and making new contacts. This is an exciting time in education and people are really keen to discuss the opportunities and challenges.
