Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador at OEB

On Thursday December 1st, the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Germany, Prof. Dr. med. Ossama bin Abdul Majed Shobokshi, officially opened the exhibition booth of Saudi Arabia’s National Center for e-Learning and Distance Learning at ONLINE EDUCA BERLIN. The Deputy Minister of Higher Education in Saudi Arabia, Dr Mohammad Al-Ohali, welcomed the Ambassador to the stand and spoke of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to education.

The National Center for e-Learning and Distance Learning (NCeL) is a project of the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Higher Education tasked with carrying out the country’s vision of improving the quality of education.

 

Dr Mohammed Al-Ohali said, “We are looking at a long term strategy to integrate more ICTs into education in Saudi Arabia, and the NCeL is an important platform for us to deliver high quality material to students.”

 

A group of Saudi students enrolled at German universities attended the opening ceremony at OEB and attested to the work that the NCeL is doing in enhancing higher education in Saudi Arabia.

 

In the opening plenary session, chairman Talal Abu-Ghazaleh spoke of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to developing its education sector by earmarking an impressive 20% of its total budget for education and capacity building.
