Offering an online course or a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) is so much more than putting lecture recordings online. Their development requires didactical, technical, multimedia and project management skills. And a variety of support as well. This hands-on workshop will offer ideas and will guide you through proven methods of supporting teachers in making MOOCs.

Based on the experience of the KU Leuven’s MOOC-team ( you will get a taste of the different tools and types of workshops that will help teachers with the creation of a didactically strong course design for online learning and engaging videos. In addition, we will discuss a variety of aspects around how to launch and moderate fully online courses as well.

You will use your own examples, translate those to an online context and develop some of your own online material. In addition, we will meta-reflect on how to support teachers and course designers in the creation process.

  • Think about quality standards (pedagogical, technical and organisational) of MOOCs and other online courses
